Rangers were very busy during the January transfer window, with players coming and going from Ibrox with regularity. However, a hint of mystery remains around one player who looked set to become a Ger. Stefan Marinovic. Marinovic pulls off a spectacular stop in the MLS, back in July. Maybe he wasnt very good on trial .Hes an experienced 27 year old goalkeeper who we could have had for free so the fact that they brought him on trial suggests that we werent convinced about him .They had a look and maybe he didnt impress.
Firth is known to S.G and has been brought in to allow McCrorie to get some game time and then compete with him when he returns .
Everything will be clearer in the summer when decisions are made on Fods and Alnwick.
It certainly seems like he didn’t impress - just still strikes me as odd that they announce they’re taking a keeper on trial, then sign a different one days later. The Firth move must have already been in the pipeline when Marinovic arrived and they were never going to sign both of them.
Agree, will be interesting to see how it pans out in the summer. Firth got an 18-month deal so he won’t be going anywhere. They’ll have five on the books, so a couple are bound to be moved on.
