A lot has been made about the form of both men, and a fitting battle is set to take place between Ryan Hardie and Andy Dallas. Not officially of course. Both men aren’t even at the same club at the moment, yet are still receiving plenty of plaudits for their individual displays so far. When…
I’m not so sure about Hardie, I hope he proves me wrong but just not sure he’s good enough. He’s not developed as much in the last few years as I would have hoped he would. He had a decent enough season last year for Livingston but they were flying high in the championship and created a lot of chances, his return was good but not great. He’s done well the last couple of games since coming back from injury, but that’s only 2 games, let’s see how the rest of the season pans out for him, and hopefully he makes me change my mind.
I feel Dallas has a lot more potential and would like to see him loaned out the second half of the season to see how he does with regular first team football somewhere. The other who seems to have been a bit forgotten recently is Rudden. He’s been doing pretty good in a Falkirk team that are really struggling, and I feel he should be kept in mind.
Couple of great points there Mike.
Hardie is definitely the outside in this battle with Dallas. I don’t particularly think BOTH will make it, but there is always a slight chance. Hardie has so much proving to do to Rangers supporters who’ve been waiting a long time for him to break through. Goals are hard to ignore though, so he needs to be banging on the door with them.
Sending Dallas out on loan would be a great shout. He’s clearly a level above reserve football, and there’s only so much a player can progress at that level. Look across the city at what a loan move did for Ryan Christie. No reason to suggest that Dallas couldn’t make huge strides if another Premiership (or even Championship) side wanted him.
Rudden is doing well too like you say. Didn’t he score in a pre-seaon friendly too, if I remember correctly? Against either Bury or Wigan? Regardless, he can’t be forgotten about like you say.
Yeah I agree, don’t think there’s room for the two, but I’d like to see one of the young boys used more often, In too many games this year we haven’t had a recognised striker on the bench. Would have liked to see Dallas or even Atakai to give us more of a forward option when we need it, if they are good enough they are old enough (Look at how well Middleton has done for his age).
This will all probably change in January when we bring in a hopefully good quality striker. I’d like one that works well playing alongside Morelos so we can go two up front on occasion. The Lafferty and Morelos partnership together just isn’t working. The usual names are all very well and good, Moult, Shankland, Kamberi, Solanke. But I wouldn’t mind us looking further afield for a real talent, it seems to have worked with Morelos, Candy, BB, and in my opinion Katic. Still undecided on Grezda but think he’ll get better with time.
