Its an old story but in this instance McManus is actually correct .McGregor was our player of the year at the time that Warburton let him go and replaced him with Kiernan , Wilson and Ball none of whom could defend. Until this season we have brought in a number of donkeys who cost more in wages but couldnt defend the way the Darren could and it has cost us . Think of the previous 3 plus Senderos , Hill , Alves , Cardoso ,Martin ,Bates , they are all worse defenders than McGregor was at the time we released him to a rival for nothing . This was first sign that Warburton couldnt spot a defender and Pedro and Murty were just as bad .He maybe is not what we need now but he could have done a job for the last 3 years.
