Former Rangers striker-turned-pundit Steven Thompson has claimed Jermain Defoe should have been booked for diving after he won two penalties in the 4-0 win over St. Mirren. The Gers striker went down under a challenge from Paul McGinn before immediately springing back to his feet before referee Andrew Dallas pointed to the spot. (Photo by…

There’s been a lot made of all the penalties, for me the only debatable one is the second one. Defoe did go to ground, but was getting up and looking at the ball, he did not claim for it, nor did he look for it.

It’s interesting that the BBC are still discussing this, but glossed over legitimate claims that were turned down against, Cowdenbeath.

With the last penalty, the laws of the game state, if a player is being fouled outside the box and is still fouled in the box as he’s moving forward, it must be a penalty (SIC)
