Rangers are set to reward veteran trio Allan McGregor, Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis with new deals after superb seasons for the club, Steven Gerrard has confirmed. The Ibrox boss said new deals for the three stars were “on the horizon” and said the club want them around “longer than come the end of the…

New deals for Defoe, McGregor and Davis. Days after £10 million debt announcement. Visionary stuff !!!

Athe the time of his transfer a young 24 year old guy who was nominated for players player of the year in Scotland, an established international who had won a domestic cup final and a league promotion, has scored in Europe and was subject of three bids by Celtic and bids from three top championship sides he sold for under 3 million and is probably worth about 20 now. John McGinn, he also won all sorts of awards in his first season with his new club such as fans player of the year etc. He also helped his team gain promotion, he is now in Premiership in England. We paid 7 million for Kent as much as I think he is a decent player I think we were robbed all we were buying was potential. Clubs now know how he plays I don’t think he will be as effective as he was, but I hope I am wrong. 7 million is crazy money. As for Defoe and McGregor, talk of renewing contracts should in my opinion only come when we have actually won something not 11 games into the season.

I fully agree with the comment on Kent. Why? When we have Jordan Jones, Glenn Middleton and Josh McPake and an abundance of youth being “groomed for finishing school” ?
And OJO? WHY?

However Defoe us a dream Player, imo
MacGregor is as good as it gets
Same Steve Davis.
We could buy in 1/2 players in January and next summer and build a rock solid team with what we have.

Important to keep Tav and Edmundson and Helander and Katic, Barrasic, Jones and Middleton

You mentioned Jones and Middleton but forgot Murphy, Barker, Stewart, Aribo and Hastie who can also all play in the 7 million man’s position we could also include Arfield and Haliday if stuck. Why we paid that much for Kent and put ourselves over 10 million in debt with all the guys in that position is beyond me, especially when you compare the experience of McGinn and how much he went for. Aston Villa could easily have afforded to spend a lot more but spent what McGinn was worth at the time he is probably worth about 20 million now if not more. Kent being valued at 7 million a guy who had not even played a competitive game for Liverpool, is not an international etc etc is crazy. Not one team in the premiership was interested in him and 7 million to those clubs is chicken feed you need to ask the question why was nobody interested? We, like Liverpool, sold one of our biggest talents in Billy Gilmour the sixth richest club in Europe but for half a million which is pathetic. We also paid off Dorrans, Dodoo, and let Candyass go for hardly anything. We have Docherty, King and Grezda on big wages doing absolutely nothing and a whole load of guys for one position. Somebody needs to look at this or its 2012 all over again.

I’m guessing either you guys have no idea what football is, or you’ve never watched Ryan Kent play. He’s a class above, enough with the negativity! I’ve never seen a single positive comment from you Parlane, it’s tiresome!

click my profile and read my comments there are
far more positive comments than ones where I criticise. I am not saying Kent is not a good player I am saying he was not worth 7 million. I follow follow rangers everywhere but I do not do it blindly if I think something needs said I will do so. As for not watching Kent to be honest he has hardly played this season. As much as he is a decent player given his 7 million price tag he should be more than a class above.
