Scotland’s hopes of automatic qualification for Euro 2020 look dead and buried after the defeats by Russia and Belgium – and Scotland boss Steve Clarke should throw caution to the wind with his next squad and call the likes of Rangers duo Ross McCrorie and Glenn Middleton into his squad. Back-to-back Hampden defeats leave Steve…
It’s time we accepted at international level we are sub par, picking players from the only two teams in Scotland that are filled with foreign players is ludicrous. If any of these players were of international quality they would be playing in the premier division or at least the championship. Any player playing abroad in the top flight of Germany, Holland, Italy, or Spain. Would or should march into the Scotland team. However, these are few and far between a Scotland team should consist of any player that is playing in the first tier of any of these leagues outside Scotland. As they are far better coached and better prepared. That is the main reason they are playing outside Scottish football. Simply because someone came for them and they improved, it they did not get better they were sold. Has anyone come to buy Scott Brown at anytime in his career? Tierney, Robertson, the latter has already improved beyond recognition. But we still keep pushing our players from inferior Scottish teams. Who as we all know have no financial clout. As most of them are living from hand to mouth. We will not qualify for the EU games next year and we will not qualify for the following world cup either. Suggest we stop dreaming and living in the past, every other nation has improved and the SFA still make jobs for the boys. Effectively we have stood still in outlook, coaching, and management skills. Good luck I would not rush to the bookies.
Agree with the sentiment of clearing out the old guard and blooding the youngsters
