Premier League club West Ham have called for the English league season to be postponed as the debate rages on over the situation involving Rangers, Celtic and the Scottish Premiership. Hammers vice-chairperson Karren Brady writes in her Sun column that the English league season “must be declared null and void if players can’t play again”.…
The league has to be completed despite any short or long time delay, otherwise anarchy will ensue.
You cant promote, relegate, give any team title when there is nothing won or lost and so many games to go that could easily change positions in leagues, as much as I would like to see remaining games played out I cant see it, could be without football for months. I can only see one solution and that will be null and void.
Klopp and Liverpool have the right attitude, Mutton and Celtic wouldn’t know classy if they stepped in it.
Too soon to worry, let’s see how long we are without football. Under a month, it is salvageable. Over two months, don’t see how we can complete.
I can understand Celtic’s desire to take the title, but “sporting integrity” must come first. I think Rangers should plan a summer tour of Japan, just to be on the safe side.
Lennon’s claim smacks of desperation everyone knows if the positions were reversed what he would then be saying, surprise surprise. What’s going to happen next if you’re winning at half time no need to play the second half, any team in future can claim the league after 30 game’s. Desperation aside surely fair play must be considered and not to make a mockery out of the rules and regulations. Also in legal parlance a precedent has already been set on season 39/40 regardless of how many games played the league must be declared null and void.Rangers are no stranger’s to taking their hits and have done so with dignity all we can expect is that other teams do so too.
They won 3 or 4 titles while we weren’t even competing and now they want to literally want to steal their 9th but really only 6th or 7th since we’ve been back involved. I’m never surprised now at how low they fkrs will steep. They fkrs think they’re entitled to whatever. I hope the rest of the British teams just scrap the season, obviously because the spl and spfl are taking the sheep’s way out and following the leaders and we come back next season and fkn walk it to the title LOL that would really give that lot something to greet aboot eh LOL LMFBO WATP RTID
Contractually all the teams in the SPL sign up to complete a season. If for whatever reason these games cannot be completed to award anyone a title the constitution of the SFA will have to be changed. Correct me please if I am wrong this will take all the teams to agree to a change, I don’t think this can be done arbitrarily. The last time I believe the SPL was cancelled was 1939, for obvious reasons. I believe the games were halted see below. The problem will arise if this is handled badly not just Rangers and Celtic. The other teams that qualify for the EUEFA cup ,who makes that decision. As it does not look clear cut, also who decides relegation? It’s only a postponement so let’s wait and see.
The 1939–40 Scotland. It would have been the 50th season of Scottish Football League, but the outbreak of the Second World War on 3 September 1939 caused the suspension of the league after five rounds of games played in Division One, and four rounds in Division Two. The league was not officially competed for until the 1946–47 season but there were regional leagues played during these years.
I wrote this in the other blog it seems clear to me that if it is handled badly (and the SFA) could screw this up as they are totally inept. The teams have a contract to play all the games if they are not played that would be Force majeure. So the contract would be mutually dissolved. This is in normal contract dealings, between acceptable parties not the SFA. Who are have been allowed to run with omnipotence for years unchallenged.
