Joint second in the SPL’s goalscoring charts this season, is Kilmarnock’s Eamonn Brophy. His eight strikes in the league have helped launch a surprise Killie challenge and his performances have surely not gone unnoticed by other clubs. The former Hamilton Accies striker has already surpassed his total from last season, and will be hoping to…
No chance , another bang average player having half a good season .Our right back has scored almost as many goals .Just like Jones , Stewart and every other Killie player that gets linked by your site , not Rangers class.
Who is writing this guff? Are we saying this boy is better than what we have already? For example Hardie who is scoring for fun for Livi or other boys performing well at other clubs or in our youth teams. Nonsense
Hi Davie, my article.
Just to clarify, the piece argues that Brophy shouldn’t be a target just yet, but is someone to monitor going forward.
I agree that there is a lot of young talent in forward areas at the club. I think it’s important to ensure that at least some of those guys get an opportunity next season, as outlined here:
Jordan, thanks for the response. Appreciate what you are saying but what I’ve said still goes, I reckon Hardie is superior and if we want to improve we need to look elsewhere as I don’t see what we need, in terms of a goal-scorer, anywhere in Scotland and that includes Shankland. If we have these boys at ibrox, give them a chance otherwise why are they there? Surely we should be producing players good enough rather than buying others in Scotland. If Morelos goes, then spend on what we need to replace him. That won’t be from another Scottish club in my opinion.
No problem Davie, a bit of debate is always good!
Hardie has really impressed so far, but he’s only four games in after a long time out, so its important he can show sustained fitness. He certainly looks the part though, and agree that there’s no point spending cash and just ignoring what’s already at the club.
In terms of current strikers in Scotland, Morelos is definitely head and shoulders above the rest. From my point of view, if a Brophy or a Cosgrove goes through a purple patch, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with assessing what they could offer Rangers.
Yet, at the minute, there is no obvious low-risk option in the SPL. As you say, better off looking further afield should they eventually have to let Morelos go.
