Ayr United striker Lawrence Shankland is one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football. The 23-year-old has been absolutely clinical for the Honest Men over the last 18 months. (photo by David Young/Action Plus via Getty Images) 55 goals and 23 assists is an incredible return from 58 appearances. Some fans have suggested the former…

Sorry, don’t agree. IF, a big IF, we signed him on a pre-contract, we pick him up for nothing in the summer.
-There has to be a good chance Morelos will be leaving at that point
-Defoe is very good - potentially, not yet proven in Scotland. Legs, brain need proven
-Lafferty not going to lead the line next season
-If Defoe makes it, he could be backed up by Shankland and Hardie, Rudden to go on loan to lower premier league (Ayr?) and Dallas to Championship (Falkirk?)
-Suspect Mepude needs another season in the unders. If not, loan to Championship

Not a perfect solution, but if SG etc think Shankland is good enough, this could work

Skibadly, as ever is on the money with this, he has the potential to be good for us as he will have better quality players around him.

However… remember Nicky Clarke?
