The Scottish Highland League has been brought to an early end with league leaders Brora Rangers awarded this season’s title. The decision to crown the Highland League leaders as champions comes with the Dudgeon Park side 13 points clear at the top of the table with six games left to play. Despite having an insurmountable…

They are trying to establish a precedent Cameron some questions.

  1. The Highland team has or had a director on the board of the SFA very handy.
  2. Was there a team relegated unconditionally? Unless there is a legal challenge this will stand. As these teams have little money unless some lawyer does it pro bono.
  3. If there is not legal challenge this will give them the ammunition to award it ti Celtic.

Thoughts anyone

Who are ‘they’?

Can’t imagine there’s any danger of the highland league setting a precedent that has any bearing on the top division.

They are trying to set precedence. The Taigs will wrench this title for sure.

The Highland Football League has different rules and regulations to the SPFL, therefore does not Apply.

Constitution and rules Scottish Highland league.
Rule 50… ‘At the end of each competition the club scoring the highest number of points will be declared the champion club.’

Highland league has declared the competition has ended due to covid-19.

This is completely different to the rules of the SPFL.
RULE. C14…THE PREMIERSHIP.
‘The club’s for the time being entitled in terms of these rules to participate in the Premiership, shall disregarding any abandoned or postponed matches, play in 38 games in any one season.’

The rules of the competition should be adhered to, these rules applied at the start of the competition and should not be changed to benefit a few.
If the 38 games cannot be completed then it should be declared null and void

I agree Dolly most of us are aware of this however this does not stop Celtic lobbying for the title because they have the most points and scored the most goals there will be a legal challenge if this is not played out. Thoughts.

Of course Celtic are going to try and influence for the title but all the teams entered the competition knowing the rules and agreed to the rules and the rules need to be applied, there is no in betweens, you either play the 38 games or make the season null and void.
