The obvious rationale for the lower leagues is that Rangers and Celtic would bring much needed exposure, so possible TV funding and money through the turnstiles. A lot of these clubs are still living on the money they made when we travelled the country
Why are the lower leagues dead against this , if the two teams cannot be promoted surely even if both clubs only added a couple of hundred to the gate receipts 8 to 10 grand is not to be sneezed at never mind the fact the youth of the area would be enticed to see, I am of a vintage when there was a genuine reserve league and there was always a good crowd at games especially the OF .
I may be in the minority here but I really like this concept. The young guys can get some very valuable experience against some seasoned professionals.Especially if they are promoted into the Championship where they would face even steeper competition.
Why are the lower league clubs not clamoring loudly for this? Their gate receipts could triple for OF Colt games, plus Rangers and them are willing to sweeten the pot with even more funds.
Fools.
