7 million is a tad high imo but sometimes you have to pay a little extra to get 1 that ye want. Hope we get him.
IF we are going to spend £7m on Kent, then I suspect we will be planning to sell Morelos or Tav to fund it. Is Kent worth £7m to Rangers? In England that price is nothing, but for us it’s huge and maybe we would be better buying two players at £3.5m each instead of £7m on Kent.
Given that we have taken steps to strengthen the team without spending money, we will be able to spend what we have on strategic buys. Kent would count. Mexer is free, Curtis Tilt (Blackpool) would be free, Lewis MacLeod is free, Kamara cost £50,000, Jones is free, Hastie is approx £300,000.
Alexi Sanchez makes £500,000 A WEEK, so I would say we are bargaining and doing well. Our budget is probably about £10 million. If Kent takes just over half, it still leaves us enough money for another decent buy. We have depth pretty much everywhere else except striker.
For me, let Lafferty go, bring in Shankland on a free and relatively cheap wages with the promise of a pay rise if he delivers. Then hope we can pick up another decent striker cheap.
If Morelos goes we will have the cash to replace.
If Tavernier goes, we have Flanagan, Polster and youth players.
