You only have to look at the state of the Scotland team to see why we dont have many in our squad . The one or two good ones (Robertson, McTominay, Fraser and McGinn for example ) we cant afford and the rest shouldnt be anywhere near a Scotland jersey but the standard is so poor that they are the best there is.ODonnell , Shinnie, Bates, McKenna , McLean , McBurnie , McNulty etc etc are nowhere near good enough for where we want to be. The way forward has to be to bring our own boys through and cherry pick the odd good player in the opposition before they go south .The likes of Souttar , Hastie and Turnbull have potential and should be snapped up if possible and that would gradually restore us to a mostly Scottish side with a few “foreigners” to add more quality.
