Ref wouldn’t have flinched had Morelos tackled like Scott Brown

One’s a commanding, physical presence whom others must learn to deal with. The other is a violent, petulant, aggressive thug. Which one is Scott Brown? And which one is Alfredo Morelos? Well, it generally depends what colour of shirt you’re wearing. But whilst everyone argues the toss about the narrative surrounding each, in my mind,…

Totally agree. It’s not just Morelos this happens to, but as soon as you get a bad reputation, the cards come flying out at any opportunity. There are certain players referee’s know about, and will be warned to keep an eye out for. Morelos is one of these players, and he’s walking a fine line, whether he’s on a booking or not.

It’s wrong, but I think it’s a time issue. Brown was clamped down on as a young player, but now he’s been around Scottish football for so long, he gets away with it. If Morelos is still here in ten years or so, referees will accept him.

As I said, it’s wrong, but just seems to be the way in Scotland.
