Rangers are to sign a winger from Manchester City on a permanent deal, according to a Daily Mail journalist. Jack Gaughan, a northern football reporter for the national paper, claims Brandon Barker is on his way to Ibrox. Rangers are signing Brandon Barker from City on a permanent deal. Sounds like a freebie. — Jack…
Not sure about this one, seems like a squad player which isn’t really what we need on the wing, Is he much improvement over Jones, Murphy, or even Hastie? His time at Hibs makes me think no, and his time at Preston doesn’t do anything to improve my optimism.
We need a striker and a left back not another bloody average winger. We need to start bringing in players who will improve the starting 11 there’s been little of that this off season. Sure we look to have signed a few good players but are any of them big improvements on last season? Look at the Killie starting 11 only Ojo and Aribo weren’t there last year. Not really a huge step up on Kent and Kamara.
Completely pointless signing same level as Hastie won’t get near the first 11.
We need to be aiming for a much better standard of signing, or don’t sign anyone until right player becomes available.
Remember him from His - terrifying pave with a tendency to run down blind alleys, so end product not great. If age or training can eradicate that, he could be good.
Implies SG doesn’t rate Murphy though
Have heard a lot of ‘speedboat with no driver’ comments attached to Barker, so will be interesting to see what he offers. Suprised to see Murphy on the bench at the weekend despite Gerrard’s recent comments, but he could still head out before window shuts - six-month loan probably wouldn’t be a bad thing
Wonder where we would play Kent if we got him. Possibly in the middle?
Good to have options, but we are getting a bit overloaded on the LHS
I think Kent through the middle would be a bit of a waste - tried that a few times last season and he was either quiet or just ended up gravitating out to the left anyway. Definitely overloaded on left, and if he was to come back at the last minute, the Barker signing would look pretty silly.
I agree that Kent is not really a forward, but can we justify the money for a decent 3rd option? Probably not so it would be make do a nd mend. Always Mepude of course.
I remember Barker from Hibs, ‘speedboat with no driver’ was a fair comment then. Hoping he has improved
