Rangers recently opened their new stand at the club’s Hummel Training Centre which houses the club’s Academy and women’s side – and the club should name the impressive new facility after one of the club’s icons. Graeme Murty’s Development squad faced Chelsea in a friendly to open the stand but so far there’s no formal…
You’ve already named the man , it has to be Walter Smith , what he has done for this club is nothing short of phenomenal , there are plenty of players that could be named but for me it has to be Walter

Walter Smith would be an obvious candidate, however, I think it would be more fitting if Walter had his own statue outside Ibrox itself, alongside John Greig. There are many players who would be worthy of having the stand named after them, however, I think a fitting tribute would be to name it the Fernando Ricksen stand
If it was me it would be Davie Cooper I played for the team I loved
And I would rename ibrox for a season or 2 and call the ibrox The hummel stadium for free just to get it right up Mike Ashley every supporter will always know it as ibrox anyhow
Depends on the purpose.
Davie Cooper was a legend-Dryburgh Cup Final anyone, google it if you are young-but he wasn’t raised in our youth team.
Walter will always be the man and should be recognised, but at Ibrox, not the training ground.
So I think it should be either a great youth coach or a great player who came through the system. It should also not be someone currently working there, so Murty (controversial, but the facts don’t lie-a great youth coach) will have to wait.
Ferguson qualifies and I would be very happy to have him honoured. It will be interesting to see what other names are thrown into the ring
Personally I would like to see rickson’s name attached to ibrox.
Guy is a legend and loved by everyone and what a way to be remembered
Fernando ricksen for me without a doubt or one person I stayed next door to many years ago Colin stein or Walter Smith there’s that many names but FERNANDO RICKSEN FOR ME ,
What about naming it after Ally McCoist , without him and Sandy Jardine keeping the club going , we may not have a training ground.
Sandy got the stand named after him so why not name the stand built from the fighting fund after the man who did most of the fighting inside the club.
Usually when someone gets this type of honour it’s down to what they have achieved or length of service so for me Rickson should not be on the list. My list would be Colin Jackson, Jock Wallace, Walter Smith and Ally McCoIst and honorable mentions to Cooper, Henderson McCloy Baxter but sure there are many more.
