Rangers Predicted XI for League Cup Final against Celtic

Sunday afternoon brings an opportunity for the Rangers players to put a disappointing Premiership result behind them, as they take on Celtic in the League Cup Final. It’s a massive occasion for the club, with the Gers looking to get their hands on silverware after a long and painful wait, while simultaneously stopping Celtic’s quest…

You are probably right as he has to pick guys he knows will show up hence no Ojo or Aribo .If Barisic is fit its a no brainer but if not it should be Halliday .I would play Katic for Helander as they will run off him all game , but Gerrard seems to rate him so it won`t happen.

I think we should have been making sure that Edmundson but particularly Katic were getting game time so that we would not be in this bind. We can’t afford to drop a player right now because there is not a battle hardened replacement ready. If one of the 2 CBs gets injured Sunday we will face Young Boys with someone who has no recent game time.
This is why we need some limited rotation, even if just the last 30 minutes of a game.

Fully agree with this. Consistency of selection is definitely beneficial, but freezing out guys completely leaves us vulnerable when one or two injuries inevitably hit.

For me:

McGregor
Tav
Katic
Helander
Barisic
Davis
Jack
Kamara
Kent
Morelos
Stewart

Stewart and katic deserve a shot
Helander and Goldson were bombscares last night

Aribo, Defo and Ojo super subs

I was really hoping Stewart would start at Aberdeen, but Gerrard not using him there suggests a lack of trust for the big games, so unfortunately don’t think he’ll feature in the final.

Agree that the defence really struggled, but can’t see him changing it given neither Katic nor Edmundson have started a game since October.
