Can’t understand how barisic seen 90 mins out, every pass bar one was backwards and the for ward pass went to opposition.
Poor performance all round from gers but how barisic gets a game for Croatia I will never know.
On the plus side that was a game we would have lost last season so will take the 3 points.
Everything was too complicated and ponderous in midfield, passing left to right, then back again, without a thought of trying to get forward down the flanks. Too many failed short passes in and around their box , leading to them breaking out and Tavernier having to be rescued by Jack and Davis, as he was left stranded upfield.
Hope we can get another striker…today was good, at times, but pretty hopeless in their box, apart from 2 great set piece headers, that brought the 2 goals.
Agree that Barisic isn’t good enough…where was he when Killie scored?
Nobody can judge barisic on that performance. He had no support on the left wing until the 2nd half. Most the time his only option was to run into the path of 2 killie defenders or pass it back or inside. We had no balance on the left until the 2nd half then we had no balance on the right because the winger was shifted over to help him then he played a little better. I think the gaffer has a selection headache, he can’t play aribo and arfield. He’s selecting arfield as a winger then giving him freedom to roam. I think it caused us dear today. And also ojo is shite! Get Kent back up the road or play someone else ahead of him. Itl be evident as the season rolls on how much we wil miss candeias.
PS killie strangled that game. Playing 11 men behind the ball on a hockey pitch! Should be rules against that.
Agree ojo was terrible offered nothing and team does look unbalanced with that personnel.
However cannot understand how u can defend barisic at all, if he had even tried to take on a man or attempt a pass forward I would lay off him a bit.
Problem is he was already looking backward before receiving every ball at no point did he even attempt to look forward he was so negative it was unbelievable.
Maybe it’s just me but I expect more from a full international especially a Croatian 1st pick.
People need to get it out of their head that Arfield was playing as a winger, he wasnt .This system has 3 forwards playing narrow leaving space wide for the full backs to exploit .It worked for the 5 of the last 6 games of the season with Defoe , Arfield and either Candeias or Kent and Flanagan at left back .It says something about Barisic that a right footed full back made more of the space on that side than he can. I would also say that if we stick to this formation , Stewart would be a better bet than Ojo . It is 3 points that we deserved and got although we didnt play well and 3 points we never got last season , so take it and move on I say.
