Rangers owe Celtic something other than a guard of honour this week

The mere fact we’re talking about a guard of honour for Celtic at Ibrox is enough to make even the strongest stomached Gers fan wince. And if the shoe was on the other foot, you can bet it’d be the exact same. You can also bet that those voices within the media who’re trolling Rangers…

You have written this article as if Celtic FC had publicly requested a guard of honour. As a Celtic fan, I would say we neither expect nor need anything from you. We won the title and you want to blame us for it. Stir your own pot if you want.

Alfie,

I’m curious - what stirred you to follow a link to a Rangers News article, read it, and comment on it?

Alfie,
I reread the article in case I had missed something. I hadn’t. Nowhere does the article presume or assume that a “Guard of Honour” has been publicly or privately requested by Celtic Football Club.
As you say, you neither expect nor need anything from us. I think you can assume that that is exactly what you will get. We do not blame you for winning the league. In fact, if you had a captain like Billy McNeil, who led in a time when relations were not as poisonous as they are now, I would not have a problem with it.
If Callum McGregor or Tierney led your team, with the dignity and respect they have earned, I would grudgingly admit we should do it.
But I can only imagine how galling it must be for a team once led by Billy McNeil to watch it now being led by Scott Brown. You have my sympathy.

" lectures on respect from a club " would clearly imply that Celtic FC had themselves commented on it.
Using Billy McNeill as a stick to hit Scott Brown is about as low as you can get. All done in the guise of some form of respect for the deceased.
Your patience in trying to remain dignified until the Old Firm tide turns has clearly run out and this is why relations between the clubs are so poor.
You got caught cheating , got punished by the powers that be and rather than humbly accept it you kick punch and blame our club ( the SFA, SPFL, referees, BBC etc etc ) for our success.

It appeared on NewsnowCeltic and aroused my suspicions. Having read it I felt obliged to reply.

A guard of honour , you are having a laugh .

Get them to ibrox , beat them and send them homewards.

That will set the stall for next season

Get real

Scott brown and the word dignity should never be connected

Broony is just a scapegoat for your failure, your frustration and our continuous trophy hauling. You should change your name to ’ next season FC '.
