Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has bristled at suggestions that the Scottish game needs “saved” by Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and insists “the product is good” north of the border. Gerrard had said he would love to see the Scottish leagues “filter” into the English leagues when speaking to Jamie Carragher for his “Greatest Game” podcast.…
If the manager /coach of the 3rd force in Scottish football thinks that the product is good it is no wonder that it is so poor . Rangers and Celtic are doing well in Europe despite the standard not because of it and their success reflects well on them not on the league as a whole and it is total non sense to hold them up as an example .
Look at how poor the football is that is being played by the likes of Hearts , Livvy , Killie, St Johnstone , Hamilton , St Mirren , Ross County and even Aberdeen and how low attendances currently are at all these grounds . No one watches when the OF aren`t visiting because watching a ball hacked up and down the pitch is boring .
Its time for everyone higher up in Scottish football to wake up and smell the coffee , the standard is poor , the product is poor , attendances are poor, equals a dying league .How the journos can let McInnes away with these comments without grilling him to back it up with proof is beyond me.
Rangers are far from obligated to Scottish football, mibby it’s the other way round after all the crap we’ve taken from Scottish football the past 30+ years. We’ve done a lot more for it than its done for us !!!
