Joe Dodoo is one of many Rangers players currently out on loan in the English Football League. The forward signed for the Gers from Leicester on a four-year deal in 2016 and featured regularly from the bench in his first season. Dodoo takes on Mikael Lustig at Hampden in 2017. As much as I agree that he won’t be a Rangers player next season, I do think it’s worth pointing a few things out.
It’s easy to knock a goal scoring rate with out looking at the full facts.
Is he playing out of position (outside)
Is he getting then opportunities to score, are his teammates supplying crosses etc.
Is there a lack of crosses, but he’s always in the right position of a ball came in.
Is he working hard to shut down players and start defending from the front.
All these questions when answered give you a better picture of the player.
As a thought, Ally McCoist did not cut it at Sunderland…
Yep, definitely agree @Iainrm70 . More than just stats should ideally be considered when trying to assess a player’s performances. Unfortunately, when it comes to loanees we don’t often get much more than that to go off.
With regards to Dodoo, Blackpool have had a reasonable season (currently 9th) and other forwards like Gnandhuillet seem to have managed semi-decent returns there. Injury hasn’t helped, but he’s probably not been as starved of chances as other attackers at teams lower down the table.
