Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister has waded into the debate surrounding VAR in the English Premier League, saying he is “absolutely” happy it’s not in Scotland. Not yet at least. The former Liverpool and Leeds United midfielder was speaking to the press as Rangers look ahead to the trip to Ross County and he’s happy…
Would be interesting to get some fan feedback on what they think about it. I would rather not have it at all, however I have no issue with a screen that the ref can use during the game to offer him reassurance in his decisions and change them if necessary as long as it is vital decisions such as handball penalty decisions etc. It would also be much quicker than VAR as it’s the refs decision not three guys arguing over what happened. VAR refs are a different matter, you have three people watching a screen alienated from the actual game, who may not be as experienced as the man on the park and there is no getting away from it some incidents will be hard to call even with VAR. Thus I think it should be the refs decision as he wil have consistency of his decisions in mind, VAR refs will not.
