The passing of Fernando Ricksen after a six-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease hit Scottish football and its fans hard last week. The fiery Dutchman, a notorious battler on the pitch, embodied the same spirit as he refused to surrender to the debilitating illness. Fernando Ricksen captained Rangers to a title in 2004/05. Amazing that Fernando allowed us all to see how he suffered through that terrible illness with his aim to help find a cure to hopefully deal/stop MND in the future. It was also a tribute to our club and proved that we are the best in the world in our support and caring for Fernando and his family. WATP.
Might not be the time or place for this but I was really upset by the amount of grown men and women holding up fones like ghouls today at Ibrox. I’m old fashioned in my ways and I thought it was disrespectful. I expected it from teenagers, fair enough but the folk of a certain age should know better. I ask them, would you have your fone out filming a family member in a hearse? Tremendous turn out at Ibrox for a true Rangers hero and 90 percent of us can be proud of seeing him off. God bless you Fernando.
