Rangers fans need to tone down criticism of Tavernier after Young Boys loss

Rangers skipper James Tavernier had a night to forget last night as his two mistakes turned the game around and cost the Gers three points and the chance to go top of their Europa League group – but some fans really need to dial back the abuse of Tavernier after a poor night. There’s little…

Yip agree 100%. He had a poor night defensively but it seems folk can’t wait for him to make a mistake so they can go on the attack. We expect a lot of Tav. He needs to cover a lot of ground and play a key part in setting up goal scoring chances. I think his last mistake that cost us a goal was at their place last season? There were several players who came up short last night. The worry is Young Boys were poor and, hence, it is very likely that both Feyenord and Porto will take max points off them. That means we are likely to have to take something away from home - probably a win - to have any chance of second spot.

I don’t know why it’s only Tav, Helander should have easily cut out the cross for 1st goal and on the 2nd his clearing header was straight to an opponent when he had time to knock it out to the side. it was awful. All coaches say head to the side when clearing never to the middle onto on rushing players. Knocking it to the side narrows angles for shots and less likely to fall at an opposing players feet. Helander for me just as at fault for both goals.
