Rangers fans have criticised Scott Arfield after the player struggled once again during the win over Hamilton on Sunday afternoon. The 31-year-old was a standout performer for the Gers last season but has dropped his levels considerably this campaign, struggling to make contributions when deployed in an advanced role. Arfield scored 13 goals last season…
I feel Arfield’s lack of pace but good game intelligence is made for the No 10 role, but we would need to move to a 4-2-3-1 to utilise it. We have the players for that, I am not sure it is that different from our 4-3-3.
I cannot claim to be an expert, but surely it just involves pushing one midfielder forward and the wide men further out, but keeping their licence to roam. So the central AM, ie Arfield, sits in behind the striker and feeds the runners. Sounds made for Arfield.
If not, he has to drop to the bench and let Docherty have a shot, although it would be the same problem. Kamara for Finland plays the AM role, is it that SG fears our central 2 are not strong enough?
The team regardless of selection/positions should have pushed on from our good start. It appeared to me that there was little leadership. Positive last year two points dropped, negative keep on like that and we’ll be ???l by Jan
