Rangers are close to agreeing on a permanent deal for Liverpool winger Ryan Kent, according to a journalist for The Times. Paul Joyce is claiming that Rangers are close to agreeing on a fee in the region of £6/7m for Kent with the player heading to Ibrox for a medical and to agree on personal…

Before yesterday’s result, I would not have thought of paying £7m for Ryan Kent but with Europa League money it is worth the gamble to stop 9 in a row. Hope we get him now. WATP.

If the deal is spread over several years it shouldn’t break the bank

A lot of Money for a player who could not a game in premiership, yes Liverpool are a good side but with all the money around in that division and championship I’m worried we are paying way over the odds. Kent has not had much interest or bids from anyone other than possibly Leeds and Brugge. for 7 million it could have been spent on a decent back up striker and a decent winger in mold of Kent, probably with international experience. Not being cynical but Gerrard will end up at Liverpool at some point, I hope we are not being used. I would have not felt so bad if we had not spent so much on two central defenders Grezda and Barasic when they rarely play. Not impressed.

I agree with parlane. I don’t like it when all loan players coming from where manager will end up eventually. Optomist says old pals act and there seeing Gerrard all right but pessimist says he may be playing his long game not rangers .and the buying who we play against is schoolboy picks .time we faced facts and reality check that Celtic with average manager in place still have players and major funding advantage . Walter or waddle wouldn’t make any difference. Money talks just ask dick !.maybe stop them winning our big 150 year only if 40 million available very soon

Jeezo what planet are you guys on - Ryan Kent was easily our best player in the second half of last season and he’s got bags of potential to keep developing into an all time great at the club - he was a massive difference maker in the Celtic’s games, a big game player - this is a huge statement of intent and as a Rangers fan I’m delighted the club are coughing up to properly compete with Celtic

Agree kingsholmesball .worth 7 million according to sky deal just about done 7 million personal terms to be agreed last season he was a good player only 22 he can get better with the gers. NSE.

I understand the argument about squad depth but we won nothing last year and ten signings have come in only one started against Celtic, I would have expected the quality on the park to improve and the one player that did play (aribo) he looked lost against Celtic and was subbed. I am very supportive of the team but also realistic, bringing in 10 players is useless if standard of team on the pitch remains the same as last year, especially when Celtic bring in signings who play then beat us at home by 2 goals, things need to improve and quick, otherwise we will see same quality on pitch as last year and win nothing and not progress in Europe. Kent is also included in this as we won nothing with him playing 48 games and for 7million if he is that good why no interest from any premiership club because at that money it’s chicken feed in that league.

I honestly think there’s a good chance he’s said he wants to come to rangers and we’re getting a sweetened deal at 7mil because of Gerrard

Why the negativity Parlane? Hold your nerve

it’s not negativity, it’s realism. I would love us to wipe up this year but where is the players who improve us on last year? be honest Kent is good but worth 7 million?? He was part of our team last year that won zilch, I want, and most gers want improvement on last year, not guys coming in at same level or worse. Every player we have brought in so far not one of them is established as a first team pick apart from Aribo and he was rubbish against Celtic, Ojo was rubbish as well. Jones gets sent off, last thing we want is another Morelos scenario and Kent well it’s not an improvement it’s standing still, only at 7 million more than last year.

Hold your nerve - Rome wasn’t built in a day - it’s a real football club not a game of champ manager

Tell Gerrard that then I’m only a fan.

It’s early days yet we lost one game, yes it’s a big game but then it’s the big picture, we have moved on from last season but some players have yet to get their place. Ryan will be phenomenal for us and hopefully raise not just our spirit but our game. Although we were disappointed on Sunday we are in a fantastic position with some glamour ties coming our way, we have got past the qualifiers, the Union Bears are on board and were brilliant on Sunday, and the board are backing us to the hilt. There is only one way I see the league ending 55.:uk::uk::uk::uk::uk:
PS Welcome home Ryan.

yes team will get better, hopefully, but best player at 7 million was still a guy that won nothing with a poor team last year. Other teams are also strengthening. I worry we only have Morelos and 36 year old up front as strikers. Not one of the new guys have made an impact. Aribo and Ojo are not any better than candyass and Middleton. We are struggling to win matches, virtually last minute goals against St Mirren, Kilmarnock, and Legia and beaten by Celtic at home. Only team we beat well was Hibs and St Joseph’s hibs were down to ten men other one team very poor. Dafoe no goals against Celtic at home is a real worry especially against a defence made up of three new players who have not played together.
