Over the last number of weeks, Rangers have looked shaky at the back. There have been no hammerings, no complete howlers by any one individual. Yet, a sense of vulnerability has been ever present. At Tyncecastle, Gareth McAuley’s unfortunate, if a little clumsy, own goal, gave the hosts a sniff. The centre-backs weren’t quite at…

Spot on.

Rangers need to be tighter at the back if the title-charge is to be a success. Both halves of the Old Firm keep letting each other off the hook, and Rangers’ main cause of it is their shaky defending.

Hibernian twice, St Johnstone away, and Celtic at home. Three teams that will totally expose any weaknesses at the back that Rangers have. Saints in particular can’t be underestimated.

If Celtic have Christie and Rogic fit for Ibrox, McAuley and Goldson need to be more alert. Celtic have so many vulnerabilities for Rangers to tackle these days, but they have to make sure these gaps are closed up.

Such an intriguing season this year. It reminds me of the 2008/09 season when it was a case of “well who wants to win the league?” because both sides continually slipped up when given a big chance to stretch away.
