Yeah but does the boy want to go there ? Its hardly a step up for him, but if he decides to go there , its his loss.
I think, I hope, we have played this right. Make an offer, they up the price, we walk away, they accept lower offer elsewhere, we go back and match it, player says Rangers or nothing.

seen this scenario in Europe a lot, but what happens there is player gets offered a similar amount to the bid as well as a high salary if he signs pre-contract agreement and joins in years time. Club then realise they will only get development fee and accept current offer even though its lower than other offers, but this only works if player is set on one club and is wiling to wait the year
