A few years ago the idea that Rangers would ever be able to move for the likes of James Milner was fanciful at best. But with Steven Gerrard at the helm, anything is really possible. The Gers gaffer has already shown that by bringing Jermain Defoe to Ibrox. “Old man” James Milner has played 40…
I would take him, obviously. But there are caveats.
First, how much? We can’t pay anything like the money he would get elsewhere, I don’t think we should be paying over 10K a week for someone with no sell on value, so he may not want that.
Second, even if he came for that money, he would take a jersey that otherwise would go to someone younger. Who would we release to make space for him? Docherty? Rossiter? McCrorie? Not for me, it may have to be him or Davis. We saw the Youth Cup last night, they are our future. I would hate to lose one of them because we brought Milner in. Unless he won us the league, of course.
