Jurgen Klopp deals Rangers Ryan Kent transfer blow

As quoted by BBC Sport, Jurgen Klopp has delivered a major blow to Rangers’ hopes of bringing Ryan Kent back to the club. Speaking following a 3-0 defeat to Napoli at Murrayfield, the Liverpool manager finally brought some clarity to a saga that has rumbled on for months. Kent has played Kent regularly during pre-season.…

Two things for me in this…

  1. I’m delighted that Klopp has recognised, Kent needs a club permanently, but it sounds like it’s not Liverpool.

  2. Do not be surprised if after a conversation with Gerrard, that Klopp is putting the Rangers board under pressure to buy, Kent. He mentions and praises Rangers handling of Kent. I think he’s helping Gerrard with this. I would expect a deal around £4M when Morelos is gone to succeed.

All my own thoughts though.

As much as I admire Ryan Kent as a player, he’s not Alfredo’s replacement. If Alfredo moves on as is very likely, it is an out and out striker we need. Who that striker is depends on how much we want to pay but no more than £3m is the market we can afford at present. WATP.

I am disappointed that Ryan Kent won’t be coming back to Rangers. I don’t expect Rangers to buy him, if he is for sale then there are clubs in England will pay much more than Rangers can offer.
If Morelos is sold, then it will be for decent money. How much that will be I don’t know, probably £10-15m. With that money we should be able to afford to pay £8-10m for a striker, but whether a £10m striker will be interested in playing in Scotland might be another story.
We will see what happens…

Well see what happens when Liverpool cant get the millions they are looking for between now and next Thursday when the English transfer window shuts .Wanting to sell him and managing to sell him are two different things .Come that date when he is still there and they have no intention of playing him , he`ll be pushing to get away . It could still happen , but late into our window.

Would love to see Kent arrive but we can’t go back down that road spending silly money we’ve just not got.Even if you get say millions for alfredo we need to be sure to get the right player to step in .
