Jordan Rossiter's Rangers reserve appearance is a big blow for him

Jordan Rosster’s game-time looked like improving last month, but at the worst possible moment, he’s back with the reserves. It used to be the case that seeing Rossiter taking part in reserve matches was a good thing. Such was the extent of the injury problems that have plagued him for two-and-a-half years, it looked like…

Am I not right in thinking he wasn’t in the squad for Rapid Vienna mostly because he wasn’t put in as part of our European squad at all? Seem to recall Gerrard saying him and Wallace were not included in that when it was first announced, due to them not being able to handle that many competitive fixtures while trying to comeback from injury. I might be wrong, and even if he was eligible he might not have been picked though.

Mike is right, Rossiter wasnt included in the squad registered for the Europa, so him not being involved is not an issue . Unlike you , I prefer to see it as a positive that Rossiter (and Katic for that matter) both got game time in the Reserves, its what players who are not in the first team at the weekend should be doing to get match fit .Rossiter also played in the development game against Rapid so he has played Saturday /Thursday/ Monday which has got to be a good way of building his fitness. Cant understand why Wallace didnt also play another game , he should be playing every reserve game .This is the reason why the Reserve League is a plus this season and we dont seem to use it right .Sadiq too could have played more Reserve games and it might have helped him .We need to stop seeing it as an insult to the players and treat it as an asset.
