James Tavernier has got a lot of stick when we’ve been under pressure. He needed a captain’s performance, and today I think he gave one. As Rangers captain, you expect the stick. In a previous post, I said the same. Tav was incredible today and I wholeheartedly agree that he gets criticised to often. He never gave Sinclair a second, his positional sense to his surging runs, made him a top performer today.
Not every captain needs to bawl or shout, some just lead by example.
Scott Brown has been a successful Celtic Captain, but not one of us would swap him with our captain.
A good team shouldn’t need a captain to tell them to do their job. We already have McGregor who is captain of the box, Jack who will run the midfield, Arfield who will run the attack. McCrorie is already U-21 captain. Halliday is SG’s boss on the pitch. So even without Goldson or MacAuley, we have plenty captains. They all need to stand up and be counted when needed. Be there to take a pass, make a tackle, encourage teammates.
