Jak Alnwick isn’t exactly pulling up trees while at Scunthorpe United. The 25-year-old Englishman’s loan deal is due to expire in a few days, but his performances have done little to suggest he’s worthy of a second opportunity at Ibrox. Alnwick has failed to prevent Scunthorpe from leaking goals. (Photo by James Baylis – AMA/Getty…
Need to let Wes go in January. Too good to not play, not as good as McGregor, would free up a wage and bring in decent money. So either Alnwick comes back or we go with McCrorie as backup.
This is only until we get Kelly back from Livingston
I think defensive woes is an understatement. Being an iron fan I have to say I have been very impressed with Jak and what he has done with an extremely leaky defence, he has kept us in the game on a number of occasions/kept the scoreline a lot lower than it should’ve been. Whilst I doubt he will cement a place in the Rangers squad anytime soon with the keepers you have, he is definitely worthy of playing for a top football league side. I’m sure we will try our best to extend the loan until the end of the season.
Agree on this, little point in having a valuable player on the books if he isn’t going to get a look in!
Think McCrorie could be a capable back up, only issue is that sitting on the bench, rather than playing for the reserves, can’t be good for his development.
Thanks for that 96Domino, really interesting to get a Scunthorpe point of view on this.
Going purely on the stats it does seem like he’s had an awful time of it with yourselves, but as you say he’s obviously fighting a difficult battle behind a poor defence.
As Skibadly suggested, successfully extending the loan might depend what happens with Foderingham a Ibrox.
I agree with 96 DOMINO, Jak as been awesome in some of the games this season and m.o.m in many of them. Our injury crisis is unreal with 4 or 5 of our better players out long term, also our cbs have been responsible for the majority of goals we concede. I doubt many keepers could have done much more than he as, I got one would be more than happy to keep him here.
Good luck for the rest of the season.
Gaz, Scunny fan.

Hi 96Domino, apologies for only getting round to looking at this now. Unfortunately the link doesn’t seem to be working?
He saved the team from a double figure hammering against Celtic.
