The Daily Record reported that their sources claim Rangers have an interest in the player. Journalist Ronan Murphy backed that report up by claiming Gerrard…

We dont want someone who we are relying on to "recapture" form .He is 28 , hasnt won a cap for 6 or 7 years and has a meagre total of goals and assists for Hamburg in the German 2nd Division so he would be a gamble and at this point we don`t need to gamble we need to add a bit of quality to the squad we have .Too many of our gambles have not worked out and we need to get past continuing with this strategy .This also rules out Downing who is too old.

To be honest, even if we weren’t waiting on him recapturing form, are his stats any better than Arfield’s? Don’t think so. Would rather take Lewis McLeod. Had a hard time with injuries, but sold to balance the books and a good player and a fan.
