There is NO PROPER EXPLANATION REGARDING WHY HIBS AND RANGERS WISH TO LEAVE THE RESERVE LEAGUE. The young talent need a game every week, as do players returning from injury–so I would have thought that we desperately need a reserve league. There’s no concrete info on what the alternative will be yet, but I would say that in the current system the Reserves aren’t playing every week. There were 18 clubs in the Reserve League this season and each team plays each other once - so just 17 league matches across a full season. St Johnstone have pulled out too.

With Rangers and Hibs both not participating in the reserve league next season, Celtic can take this opportunity to go for 8 in a row
