As the Scotland national team crashed to an embarrassing 3-0 defeat in Kazakhstan, the inquest is already underway. For over 20 years discontent has been bubbling under the surface of the national side. Scotland hasn’t qualified for a major tournament since 1998. But despite some spirited qualification efforts in the two decades between then and…
Of course it has .While everyone patted themselves in the back, whilst stabbing ours , at how more clubs could win trophies and get into Europe , they missed the reality of how this could now be achieved with a lower standard of player .Until Rodgers arrived one fluke result against Celtic and the competitions were open, but once he came, brought in better players and was more professional even that dried up . Journeymen Brits and foreigners have been brought in to "make the top six " and get into Europe through the league .They then all get gubbed and destroy our co-efficient to the point that now we are back, both us and Celtic have 4 qualifying rounds to even get into decent competition .
As a result of all of this the flow of Scottish talent has slowed to a trickle and we have had only one club providing players with any experience of Europe .Hopefully we will start to provide some players too but how will they feel if they are continually booed by their own fans and will they be picked , even if they deserve it . There is a bias against our players which cannot be ignored. I read a quote that sums it up for me " Scottish football has hated itself to death " and this is demonstrated by the fact that some are trying to blame us for last nights thrashing .
Great quote “Scottish football has hated itself to death” Write it on the grave.
