Following Lassana Coulibaly, the next player under scrutiny is €2 million man, Eros Grezda. A 9-cap Albanian international, he arrived at Ibrox during the latter part of the summer. Jordan,
It’s really not like you to be so negative, particularly when you mention a downgrade with, Windass. Windass had been at the club a few years before we saw the best (?) of him.
Grezda is a young boy playing in a completely different league to what he’s used too. Better players than him have wilted under the pressure of playing for Rangers.
Let’s give him time to settle, quite possibly, his only comfort or friendship in the City is at training and match days. Maybe when he settles, meets a few more people, we will see the player we were promised.
I’d imagine, if he does not settle or playing well, we will recoup the money fairly easily. But for now, let’s get behind this player.
Fair grading but until he has a pre season we will not see the best of him. Windass had the heart of a peanut
Iain,
I certainly agree with those points about the difficulties of moving to a new country, and it being a struggle to get settled. Of course, that must be difficult, and sometimes we think of footballers as robots who should be able to perform any time, any place. To a degree though, he signed up to that when he decided to move.
While there are mitigating factors, he simply hasn’t performed well enough so far. The comparison with Windass was just to show that for a minor net profit, so far, we have lost a lot in terms of goals and assists by bringing in Grezda.
Hopefully, when he recovers from the foot injury, he’ll start to show more. It’s unlikely the club would have forked out for him without strong evidence that he has quality.
For the purposes of the Half-Term Reports though, I felt I had to say it as it is. I stand by the point that so far, he has been a big disappointment!
Jordan, fair point, if you are purely talking about football and not external factors.
Fingers crossed he comes good though.
