Gordon Parks delivered a scathing assessment of James Tavernier on the Record Rangers Podcast. The 27-year-old who signed from Wigan Athletic in 2015, has outstanding stats this season. Jordan,
At last, a pundit has come out and confirmed what I’ve been saying for months…Tavernier is too “meek” and a “poor tackler”! He’s the wrong guy to be an example as Captain!
He is a good crosser of the ball and can take unchallenged shots on goal…free kicks and penalties…but you wouldn’t want him watching your back in a fight!
He’s often caught out of position, miles up field, leaving the centre backs to cover for him.
This guy is more ambitious than me…£4 million? Anything around £3 million would be amazing!
Cunts rite tav is poor only reason he was made was to put his value up he’d probably do better down South more time on the ball n all that 4 million with a 20 % buy on clause and I’ll drive him anywhere
The guy is a journo with the Daily Tim , therefore by definition he knows nothing about football . Whether or not he is captain material is debatable but what is not is that Tav has been and still is one of our best players over the last few years. There are a lot of others need replaced before him and I would reckon our £3 million centre back and his partner who is rated at £8million have cost us more points than Tav. this season.
I would agree that Tavernier is not our greatest ever captain. BUT, you don’t give the armband to anew arrival, so some options would have to wait a season. They also need to have a jersey nailed down. Not many qualified last summer.
But as an attacking right back/winger in a 3-5-2 he would be outstanding. That is the kind of club who would pay good money for him. He is a very good defender, for a winger.
