Steven Gerrard has had his say on the overall standard of Scottish football after a year as Rangers manager – and it doesn’t make for great reading. The Gers boss told Sky Sports that “it has been a little worse than (he) thought” and you can’t help feel he’s been more than a little diplomatic…
Youre right that the reaction will not be ,hes right what can we do , it will be " how dare he come up here and criticise us ". Totally ignoring that the national team currently reflects the overall standard . We have clubs deliberately installing plastic pitches to turn the game into a fight for a high bouncing ball , we have teams like Hearts, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen who are top six but just want to sit back , with defensive blocks , kick any decent players in the opposition and hope to get a goal from a dead ball. Motherwell were doing the same but they are trying to change by introducing their own youngsters, but some of the sub standard lower league players from England that they and others have brought in just to kick and fight is dragging our game down . Its time everyone recognised this and stopped praising this type of dross.
