Gerrard makes transfer concession amid poor Rangers domestic form

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has made a transfer concession, admitting that he needs more quality in his squad amid a poor run of domestic form, as quoted by the Glasgow Times. The Gers entered 2020 in a strong position on the back of an Old Firm win, with a Premiership title and Scottish Cup both…

Recruitment strategy?
I would like to know how many players were actually sanctioned by Gerrard and how many Mark Allen signed and dumped on Gerrard, remember Allan left in a hurry, was he booted out the door because of his poor choice of players?

Alex Ferguson said that transfers are 50/50 and I think that’s what we are seeing with Gerrard. Aye he’s brought in some stinkers but he’s brought in real quality too. Barasic, Defoe, Davis, Arfield, Hagi, Kamberi, Aribo, Kamara, Kent, McGregor etc. While some of these guys are out of form at the moment, they’ve brought us plenty of big moments over the course and some will sell for far more than we paid for them, which cannot be said for many of the last 2 manager’s signings. At least it seems like he knows what’s missing from the team.

Rossco is right re Alex Ferguson and 50/50 on transfers.
But SG needs to accept that a squad for Celtic and Europe may not be the squad for Hearts and Livingston. So the squad needs to be adaptable. Don’t need 2 separate squads, just some adaptable players and some with more combative qualities. Keep coming back to people like Docherty who may or may not be good enough for Barcelona away, but is certainly good enough for SPL football. I would be happy if we had him and Lewis Ferguson in the middle next year instead of Kamara and Davis (if legs have gone)

50/50 on transfers sounds about right, I am sure if we analysed signings of several top clubs it would work out at that kind of average.
The thing I don’t understand is that this group of players coped with the Scottish physical game with very little problem, up until the winter break. Now suddenly they can’t cope with it, or so it appears. I do agree that we need to add in some extra quality, to replace the players for whom it hasn’t worked out. But it doesn’t explain why the players who were winning every week in Scotland, have suddenly fallen to pieces…

That’s what baffles me as well, weeman - the grit was there for the first half of the season.
