Gerrard comments after Motherwell must sting for Rangers man Polster

Following Sunday afternoon’s victory over Motherwell at Ibrox, Steven Gerrard once again defended James Tavernier and hit out at a section of the Rangers support for continually criticising the skipper [RangersTV]. It was a section of the post-match interview which is bound to have given Tavernier a lift. The captain has made three high-profile mistakes…

We haven’t seen much of Polster, but what little we have seen doesn’t inspire me with enthusiasm. Stevie on the other hand, sees him every day so presumably he isn’t inspiring Gerrard either. Flanagan I like a lot, so if he is injured then persevering with Tav seems the right thing to do.

I’ve been critical of Tavernier. It’s not just a “little barren spell”…remember his disaster last season against Celtic, when 10 men had fought back for a deserved draw, denied by a shocking error? Criticism of a young player ( McCrorie) at Aberdeen, after he’d jumped out of tackles himself?

In my household he’s known as “Tits up Tavernier”!

If Stevie G thinks he’ll be OK, I respect his view and will keep quiet from now on…here’s hoping he’s got it right?

He has done a lot for Gers, not least the goal against Celtic and his cross for yesterday’s winner. We need to stick by him for now, however if his form gets worse then he will need to be reassessed. P.S its more than likely Dollybraes will come on and say something hurtful bigoted or horrible towards me because I was born in Dublin. If there are True Rangers fans out there please stop this guy from posting bigoted horrible material. I was born in Dublin but to a father and mother from Glasgow I feel I am being bullied harassed and victimised by a so called rangers fan with a name that is a bigoted loyalist song that Rangers as a club are trying to get rid of.
