He may not be back for the weekend’s fixture against Livingston, but Steven Gerrard has confirmed Ryan Kent will return within the next fortnight. Eros Grezda and Glen Middelton have hit form however , so what does this mean for Kent? The winger had been in good form prior to his injury before the Europa…

Kent won’t be affected by Grezda I wouldn’t imagine. Grezda is right-sided and neither look as though they would be much use down the other flank.

I do agree though that he shouldn’t just march back into Rangers’ side. I’m a big believer of players in-form keeping their places in the squad. For me, Glenn Middleton hasn’t done anything to warrant being dropped for Kent.

I think it’s the same with Halliday and Barisic. For me, Halliday has done nothing wrong and therefore shouldn’t just be dropped for Barisic. Sends out the wrong message for me. There’s a case that you’re just needlessly leaving out your best players, but I think it’s good for morale that in-form players keep their place.

I fully expect Kent to have won his place back for some of the bigger games next month.

Its a long hard season no point rushing players back when others are doing the business fair enough if we are struggling and players are off form but if team is winning why change it. Classic example was Villareal Katic dropped for Worral he came in and was responsible for at least one of the goals we lost probably down to unsettled side new player coming into a team where he had no experience. In other words don’t try to fix something when its not broken.
