Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller criticised current Ibrox duo James Tavernier and Ryan Kent on BBC Radio Scotland Sportsound, as quoted by BBC.co.uk, for their recent comments amid a domestic collapse. The Gers have fallen away markedly since the turn of the year, failing to win five of their nine Premiership matches, while also being…
Wilting under pressure? Have to be underdogs to perform? Then you shouldn’t be at Rangers! You sign for our team KNOWING the pressure to win games, to win trophies. This has nothing to do with not coping with pressure, this is all about the lazy attitude to games domestically since the winter break. The fact is, the team have shown how great they actually are throughout the European campaign, and have risen to EVERY challenge given in that run. Domestically it was happening too before the winter break. Two points behind Celtic with a game in hand, beating Celtic in their own back yard, cup final that we narrowly lost due to bungling officials…why, domestically, has the self destruct button been pressed since January? Knowing what they are capable of, the players have let theirselves down, the manager down, and the fans down! And Gerard needs to stop being loyal to a few underperformers! Tav, Kent, Gouldson, Morelos have all cost us points, not just this season either. Give the armband to someone who knows what it means to be a leader at our club. Someone who can rally the troops and change a game when the going gets tough. Our club and reputation has taken a battering since January and we have become a laughing stock. Time some of our players stood up and turned that around instead of spitting the dummy out like toddlers and screaming “we can’t”! We are Rangers! Can’t isn’t in our vocabulary! Start EARNING the wages you are “stealing” every week, and prove your pricetags! Stand up and show the fans who pay your wages that you deserve to wear our famous jersey!
Can anybody on this forum imagine what it would be like to have the ability to play the game we all love for a club, not just any club but Rangers football club, if any of you had the choice would you choose football or the job you have, don’t tell me I know. My advice to any player feeling pressure is take a step back and realize your living our dream just play to your strength and play with commitment is all we ask, lift each other you are the best team in the league and for whatever reason crappy phrases like underdog, pressure, expectations are being dredged up well I think of fortunate, priveliged, happy. If you think for a minute your under pressure try being a fan. Just give us 100% every game and we’ll do the same.
