Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has hammered the Scotland squad after last night’s woeful 4-0 defeat in Russia, insisting there is a “massive overhaul needing done” despite only recently appointing Steve Clarke as manager. Boyd criticised much of the display, highlighting the lack of any out ball and calling the full-backs “failed wingers” but insists…
Clark is an overrated coach whose tactics at Killie was lump it up in the air and compete for the bouncing ball on that plastic pitch .The pitch made him, he was a failure everywhere else.
We dont have a decent , right back , centre half or striker anywhere but we are strong in midfield but he just bypasses the strongest part of our team. Of last nights team , Marshall , Palmer , Devlin , Mulgrew ,Burke and Snodgrass should be nowhere near a Scotland jersey and I dont think Ive seen McGegor pass the ball forward since Clarke took over .We dont have the players but Clarkes lack of organisation and tactics are definitely making things worse.
Snodgrass for me was the worst offender, slow disinterested, no fight, nothing. Palmer is never an international player. To be honest nobody gets pass marks apart from Shankland who I thought looked sharp, mobile and has a clever first touch certainly did not look any worse than 15 million rated Burke.
