Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish has praised Steven Gerrard, as quoted by Rangers.co.uk. The 60-year-old, who won seven trophies during his stint at Ibrox, returned to the dugout on Saturday as a Gers Legends side faced off against Liverpool Legends.

Less than 18 months. Just think back to where we were then. Not long rid of Pedro, getting humped by scum, our few decent players drowning in a sea of mediocrity.
Now, our players score against Brazil, play for Croatia and Colombia and are worth tens of millions. Those three would cost £50-60 million to prize away from Ibrox.
I remember meeting David Holmes at Ibrox and thanking him for bringing Souness to us. Gerrard is proving as transformational. We can no longer compete financially with England, but the impact domestically has been as great.
