Former Rangers defender Alan Hutton has spoken to BBC Sport about his search for a new club. The 34-year-old is currently a free agent, having been released by Aston Villa following their promotion to the Premier League. I think he played left back for villa last season, for a team that got promoted to the premier league. He was their number 1 choice in that position. It’s a position that some feel we could do with better players in… Just saying
That’s definitely a point, although I think when Neil Taylor was fully fit he played there and Hutton switched over to right-back. Taylor currently starting LB in the PL.
For me though, if we were to bring more left-back cover in, they’d absolutely have to be left-footed. Flanagan did ok at the back on Sunday, but it’s physically painful to watch him attempt to contribute to attacks on the left side. Hutton could probably do a bit more at that end, but not enough to justify recruiting him I don’t think.
