I agree with what HR is saying, but we have a manager who I’m sure players want to play for, I’m positive he will lure some decent signings north. That said, we are in that difficult position of revenue, the English clubs have a ridiculous sky deal, so they have the money. So maybe after seeing our own young players coming through, we stick with them?
On a separate note, I was at the Southampton v Bournemouth game at the weekend, although it was three all, I did not come away thinking that it’s the greatest league in the world.
Yeah, i agree Gerrard is giving an edge in the market that makes up in some part for a lack of spending money. When it comes to raw cash though, it’s not just the Premier League that’s the issue. Realistically, there are also plenty of Championship clubs that can afford bigger transfer fees and wages than Rangers right now.
The problem with turning mainly to young talent is just that everyone quite rightly wants to compete and win silverware right now, not in three or four years time. Tough balance to strike. Got to make every signing count while also giving the best of the youngsters a go.
