Rangers sold Josh Windass to Wigan Athletic back in August for an undisclosed fee, with the 25-year-old signing a three-year-deal at the newly promoted Championship side. Eros Grezda arrived at the end of that month, as Steven Gerrard looked to replace and improve upon the Englishman. Grezda has scored just twice and is currently out…
Judge grezda when he’s had the same 2/3 years at rangers same as windass had
Some people have short memories! Windass had skill and could finish well against weak opposition. Against that, he didn’t make a tackle in 2 years, and vanished in all the matches against Celtic. We need people with “bottle”, who can win the ball…we’re getting there…and provide a platform to go and score.
We’ve still got one ballet dancer in the team, thank God we got rid of Windass…if he was still here we’d win nothing!
Clickbait.
Windarse is a useless cunt, only shows up when he feels like it. Probably a disruptive kid in the dressing room, Gerrard has looked at him and decided he doesn’t want any bad apples in the team.
There’s no doubt Windass didn’t always turn up. In my mind though, he was also a little hard done by.
He didn’t only finish against weak opposition - last year, he scored away at Hearts, Aberdeen and Hibs (twice) and in a league Old Firm game. In the 2-0 league win over Hearts at Ibrox, he was lambasted by sections of the fans despite scoring six times in the previous three games!
Grezda is obviously taking a while to settle in, but in half a season, he’s only had a tangible impact on one match. That was the 7-1 hammering of Motherwell and it would have been comfortable even without his contribution.
Windass always gave the impression that he thought very highly of himself, whereas many of his performances didn’t support that self-opinion.
Grezda clearly needs to do better, but he is entitled to a bit more time. Kent, Candeias, and Murphy, are all much better players than Windass. Middleton looks like he has the potential to become a top player. All of these players bust a gut in every game, which couldn’t be said for Windass who frequently disappeared in games.
Certainly agree with many of your points there - I’d prefer to have Kent and Candeias as first choice on the flanks too.
Nonetheless, was still a big call to let a guy go who scored that many. Candeias and Murphy’s combined goals from last season + Kent’s four so far in this, are still less than what Windass contributed.
No doubt he was far from perfect and often lacked that passion you would ideally want in every player, but what he offered is too readily dismissed imo.
Jordan I get the impression you are a writer, a journalist, a pen pusher. Never played fitbaw in your life apart from school. Grezda has been injured, he has left his home country his family, and life of friends and companions to try and become a good football player in a good league in a country far far away. To compare him to Windass is just stupid. Give him a chance and stop being so negative Gers players read these forums…be positive or go and get a real qualification.
