The Scottish Sun reports that Dundee United have launched an outlandish attempt to sign Lawrence Shankland. The Rangers-supporting striker [Scottish Sun] scored a whopping 34 goals for Ayr United last term. Unsurprisingly, those exploits attracted a lot of attention. Now his contract has expired, he’s available on a free. Shankland netted four in a 5-0…
Who cares ? You don`t get to sign for Rangers just because you are a fan , you need to be good enough and for me Dundee Utd is probably his level.
Rangers linked with him on and off since December time, that’s why it has been covered. The fact he supports the club just surely makes it more likely he’d choose Rangers if it came down to it.
As for his level, obviously he’s unproven at top flight. What I would say though is that he proved last season he’s too good for the Scottish Championship. Missed five or six games and still scored 24 league goals + 10 in cup comps. He represents a zero risk move and wouldn’t be surprised if one of those English sides i.e Hull or Sunderland snapped him up.
