I really struggle to understand what Worrall brings to the team. Apart from reducing Goldson to a gibbering wreck. The collective term for that Centre Back pairing is “The Fear”. We see the team sheet, scan for names, then shudder as we see “The Fear” are playing.
How can Kaitc be regarded as worse than this? Obviously McAuley will be back for the next two games. Hopefully we bring in Halkett from Livingston in January and punt Worrall
I totally agree Skibadly. In the past I’ve been shot down by others who maybe haven’t seen Halkett, but people can’t let the fact he’s at Livingston put them off. He’s a huge upgrade on Worrall, and Rangers can’t just keep chopping and changing all season.
Halkett in, Katic in as cover with McAuley, and Goldson to continuously play alongside Halkett. That would be something I would give a go…but hey ho I’m not Gerrard!
You can complain all you like about Worrall but we certainly dont want Halkett back as a replacement. Hes a journeyman SPFL defender who is not the standard we are looking for to keep improving .Get rid of Worrall by all means but lets look for a better class of defender to take his place in the squad.The big Greek bloke we have been linked with has the pedigree, though personally I`ve never seen him play.
People who think Halkett isn’t good enough should check the table.
They have the smallest budget in the league yet only Rangers and Celtic have conceded fewer goals, he is out of contract in the summer and is an ex-Rangers player and Rangers fan. So we sign him on a pre-contract January 1st and bring him over in the summer. Check the number of times he appears in a team of the week. More than any of our CBs, that’s for sure, and he is playing against bigger, richer clubs every week.
While we are bringing Halket in, let’s get Hardie a contract extension. Runs out in the summer. 272 minutes, 7 shots, 5 on target, 4 goals. Lafferty is 787 minutes, 26 shots, 13 on target, 4 goals. One of them is a clinical goalscorer who could be our future, and one of them plays for Norn Irn. I would like to see Solanke on a 6month loan, then Hardie and Shankland in. Cost: pennies. Saves our money for areas where money buys you stuff. It can’t guarantee goals, but Morelos, Hardie and Shankland can, should and might.
I just have to agree with Skibadly here. All about opinions of course.
For me, the same could easily have been said about the likes of Kevin Thomson, Nacho Novo, Steven Naismith, and Kris Boyd before they signed for Rangers. I think Halkett could do a real job personally, seen him about 10 times this season now and just think he’s worth a shot.
Worrall is terrible, but the real thing I don’t understand is why him and Goldson have switched sides in central defense recently. They did it against Dundee then again last night. When Goldson goes to the other side of the central defense partnership he looks really uncomfortable, and it’s not like Worrall plays amazing to make up for this, he is always a liability and we need rid of him if we want to challenge for the title
